At Carlisle we are dedicated to the health and welbeing of our students. As part of promoting healthy food choices we began a gardening competition. Each class (and the admin team) were given a garden plot and the challenge of growing edible plants. Students worked with their teachers to research plants that grow well together and keep pests away and to design a garden that was both fruitful and beautiful.
The results were stunning. The local paper ran a story on our gardens and you can read it here.
The students were charged with maintaining their plants and it was such a pleasure to watch them diligently working away to weed, water and harvest their gardens. During the day the staff were delighted to see the children chomping away on beans , strawberries and tomatoes they had picked from their gardens.
